So instantly, anyone who can’t open PDF files for whatever reason can’t read the update.

*slow clap*

I’ve got an update. But no-one was interested.

Why would anyone who has used the internet for more than a week not have Adobe reader? :P

> You can get PDF for the blind you know?

I know, but HTML is far easier for the browser to interpret quickly when they’re already on a webpage, anyway.

> Still Barrie eh?!

I’m pleased!

>Why would anyone who has used the internet for more than a week not have Adobe reader?

1. They might be on dial-up
2. They might be using a text-only browser
3. They might be on a slow machine that struggles when attempting to load Adobe into their web browser

Besides which, a PDF is, quite simply, a poor way of quickly getting information across on a webpage. It’s a great format for certain things, but for a news update on a website? Baaaaad.

Anyone who can’t open the pdf file doesn’t deserve to read it. :) On another note, has anyone else got Vista? If so, what do you think of it? Just got it with a new notebook and I don’t mind it but some people rate it as appealing as a dose of the clap.

To which I’d add
4. Their computer might be an old and half-broken-down piece of shit that won’t run fucking Adobe. Like mine. *sigh*. I need a new puter. But first, I need lots of money for a new puter.

I predict Cappsy is going to make you an indecent proposal, Arlene.

My nephew has got Vista on his laptop, and to be honest, I quite like it, it’s just another OS, and if it works better than 98, or ME then it’s got to be an improvement…

But XP works better than ME, doesn’t it? It’s not a tough assignment, to be honest. I think the main bugbear towards Vista is that it’s worse than XP, not better, and that Microsoft can’t really afford to be putting out substandard OSs when Apple is increasing its market share.

From what I’ve read, most people are saying “it’s not worse than XP”

I beta tested Vista, the final product is actually less stable and more annoying to use than some of the earlier beta releases were!

I also beta tested XP and purchased it on the day of release (I had a voucher) and it was a hell of a lot more stable on release than Vista is.

Also Vista’s backward compatibility with older software is a joke, virtually nothing from windows 98 or early XP era works.

At the moment I’m using a Mac with 0SX 10.3.9 which is awesome for 90% of things I need to do, I also have a PC multi-booting Windows 98, 2000 Pro, XP Pro, Vista Ultimate, SUSe Linux 9 and Solaris x86.

Once I can afford a nice new intel mac the PC is going into a skip as it will be completely redundant.

If you do nothing but surf the internet and play DX10 games then Vista is fine, if you actually want to use your computer for serious apps its a total waste of fucking time.

Oddly enuff, now I can run Adobe. And now I…um…can see the document whose contents I already know.

Woo.
