God, I hate that movie.

…Uh, isn’t it 106 miles to Chicago? :D

And personally, as far as the films go: love the first, admire the second. I just wonder what form this series could take.

Now that is worrying….especially after they tried to make the sequel family friendly with a Blues Brother Brat

Although I found parts of the first film a bit boring (mainly the extended driving sequences. Stunts are fun, it just went on a bit long. Loved the musical stuff.) I like the idea of a series. As for the second film, it was okay.

My mum is a huge Blue Brothers fan. I’m sure she’d get a kick out of this.

The second film felt too similar to the first- same structure, just with a different cast and different music.

I really hope the story for the show isn’t getting the band back together again… done by the films…

I’ve never seen this film.

IMO, the original has to be the best musical feature film ever made. Mostly as the soundtrack fits SO well with the story.

Always thought the sequel would’ve benefitted from addressing Belushi’s death head-on. Elwood getting the band back together to perform a memorial concert for Jake could’ve been great.

I wonder, does this mean this proposed series will be a 70’s/80’s prequel, or reboot?

:-(

I thought The Blues Brothers was one of those films that everyone likes!

(Whereas the sequel is one of those films I have no intention of ever seeing. Ever.)

Found it meandering and plotless and, worst of all, not remotely funny. The celebrated car chase/crash scene just irritated me too. In retrospect, I’m not sure why I expected to like it because I can’t stand soul or blues music, but it was certainly a disappointing experience. One of those films that you watch expecting to love, and end up being underwhelmed. Avatar being the latest entry to this ever-growing list.

The second film is undeniably shit, the soundtrack on the other hand is awesome - may be blasphemous to say this but even better than the first?

Across The Universe trumps it, if only for Eddie Izzard’s rendition of “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite”.

Not at all. Although TBH, I do prefer the original OST. The second is just as well put together, if not better. The difference is almost the same as vinyl over MP3. It totally depends on what mood you’re in.

On a related note, I actually have an original Louis Jordan, Decca 78 - the one Elwood puts on for Jake in the apartment (Let The Good Times Roll). Always plays best with a slice of dry white toast… ;)

Haven’t seen it. But now, I have to.

I love the first Blue Brothers film, it’s one of my all-time faves. I haven’t seen the second and don’t really want to, as much as I heart John Goodman I just can’t bring myself to watch it!

I really liked the first Blues Brothers, and think I started to watch the second one but never finished watching it. The soundtracks are great! My kids really love the first Blues Brothers. I think I just liked John Belushi (loved him in Animal House!!!) and Dan isn’t too bad an actor either!!! :0)
